Pin GridMagic to your toolbar
Open your browser’s extensions menu and pin GridMagic. Keeping it visible gives you one-click access whenever you find something worth clipping.
You can also press Alt ⇧ G to start clipping right away.
Sign in from the extension panel
Open the GridMagic browser extension and choose Sign in. Alternatively, sign in to your account on the GridMagic website.
This will sign you into your account for both the browser extension and the GridMagic website.

AppleAdd GridMagic to your spreadsheet
Install the integration for each spreadsheet app you plan to use. This registers the GridMagic function so your spreadsheet knows how to evaluate the formula copied by the browser extension.
Install the GridMagic add‑on
- Open a spreadsheet in Google Sheets.
- Choose Extensions → Add‑ons → Get add‑ons.
- Search for GridMagic, or open the GridMagic Marketplace listing directly, then choose Install.
- Review the requested access, choose Continue, and then Allow.
- Return to the spreadsheet and refresh the page if prompted.
- If GridMagic does not appear in the Extensions menu, choose Extensions → Add‑ons → Manage add‑ons, open GridMagic's three‑dot overflow menu, and choose Use in this document.
Install the GridMagic add‑in
- Open a workbook in Excel for Windows or Excel on the web.
- On the Home tab, choose Add‑ins .
- Choose More Add‑ins if GridMagic is not immediately listed.
- Search for GridMagic and open its listing.
- Choose Add.
- Review the requested access and choose Continue.
Select the content you want
- Open the webpage containing the value or group of values you want.
- Open the GridMagic extension panel and click the Clip button. You can also use the keyboard shortcut Alt ⇧ G.
- Move your pointer over the content. A solid green outline shows the individual element that a normal click will select.
- When GridMagic recognizes a table, data grid, list, set of options, or labeled details, it also outlines the entire group and shows a control such as Select table or Select list. Click that control to preserve the group as spreadsheet rows and columns.
- For other collections, drag across nearby values to form a grid, or hold Ctrl or ⇧ while clicking additional individual elements. You can also right-click an element and choose Clip this to GridMagic….

It appears only when GridMagic finds a useful collection containing more than one value. You can still click the green outline to select just the individual value beneath your pointer.
HTML tables and accessible data grids keep their defined rows and columns.
Lists become a column, and a dropdown’s available options can be clipped together.
Definition-style labels and values remain aligned as paired columns.
Preview and save the clip
GridMagic opens a preview using spreadsheet-style cells. Check that the value and layout look right, then choose Save clip.
If you attempt to re-clip something that you've already clipped, GridMagic will ask if you'd like to update the existing clip with the newly selected values.
Copy and paste the formula
Once you've clipped the right content, select whether to use the Google Sheets or Excel formula. Copy it, then simply paste it into any cell in your spreadsheet.

Common questions
Troubleshooting
The Clip button does not select anything
Reload the webpage after installing GridMagic, then try again. Browsers do not allow extensions to select content on internal pages such as settings, extension stores, or a new-tab page.
The selected value or grid does not look right
Close the preview and try again, making a more focused selection. If the clip already exists, choose to update the existing clip with the new values.
A saved value is out of date
Open My Clips and try updating it manually by clicking the refresh button. Some websites change their markup, require a signed-in browser session, or block automated retrieval, so an update may occasionally need another selection.
I copied the wrong formula format
Return to the clip, switch the formula control between Google Sheets and Excel, and copy it again. The saved clip itself does not need to change.
GridMagic doesn't recognize the whole table, list, or group
Hover over a value inside the group and look for the dashed outline and its Select table, Select grid, Select list, Select details, or Select options control. If one does not appear, try clicking the outer structure directly, dragging across the values, or selecting multiple values with Ctrl/Shift-click. Some pages use generic layouts that do not identify their structure in the page markup.
